Roof Maintenance

Roof maintenance can prevent roof replacement

A high quality, properly installed roof is an important investment. It will protect your home from the elements for many years. However, failure to maintain your roof can lead to some serious problems which could even require you to replace your roof prematurely. So in order to steer clear of those extra costs down the road, it’s important to put in some time, and maybe money, in order to take care of your roof now.

Three basic tips for roof maintenance

Here are three simple things you can do to keep your roof in good shape.

  • Regularly inspect your roof. Because your roof isn’t as accessible as other parts of your home, it is often overlooked. It is vital that you periodically get up on your roof and look for warning signs. These include damaged or missing shingles, damaged flashing, or cracked caulk. If you are unable or uncomfortable with getting on your roof, a roofing company would be able to perform a professional roof inspection for you
  • Keep your roof clear of debris. Tree branches and leaves and other debris can cause excess moisture to build up and become trapped on your roof. This can lead to mold and rot and eventually leaks
  • Watch for signs of leaks. This tip is one you can do from inside your home. Keep an eye on your ceilings and watch for any signs of water damage. Dark circles or bulges in your ceiling are very bad signs. If you suspect you may have a leak, call a roofing company immediately before the problem becomes much worse and far more expensive
